Can you PERCH a Wing? (should you?)

Supposed to be a fun FPV meet at our local flightfield. Turned out to be a lot of fun (but not equally distributed for all pilots ;) Once again I used the TitanDC5 here with the Peanut. Not because it's the best cam I have - but it's good enough for these kinds of videos and it's cheap enough to crash it!

MaxiSwift - the adventure continues

After nearly crashing at "Rax" and finally crashing badly into the woods at Kranichberg I had to continue and fight the fear of loosing my whole equipment...

This was a short flight over the valley - again to Castle Wartenstein - this time in HD. When I was directly over the castle it began to rain and got windy. The crosswinds at my landing site made it difficult and I did an unplanned landing REALLY CLOSE to my car :-) (Nothing happend to it!)

On an sunday trip we wanted to show something different (not always mountains but lakes and flat country). This flatlands are close to the hungarian border. You see the lakes around Wiener Neustadt. The third lake from the left is the one where I did my waterplane videos last summer!

MaxiSwift FPV Schloss Kranichberg / Crash into the woods

This good friday I had to use the great clam morning to explore a nice new spot with a view to castle "Kranichberg". The first flight was ok and gave me good shots of the castle - the second should give me some more high shots of the surroundings. I shouldn't have done this second flight!
I ran into light video interferences and got disoriented - then headed to the false landing place and got even worse visual disturbances leading to a nosedown crash into deep woods!
The result was a 35min walk with a little local boy who helped me bravely. We watched to video recorded on the laptop over and over again to guess where the plane crashed and then narrowed our search. Finally we found it 20m near a road. We wouldn't have had a chance if the plane went down further in the wood!
And no real damage to the plane - RC Miracle!

FPV Mission: MaxiSwift to Hilltop-Trees

This spot on the "Silbersberg" caught my attention and after Schwegel also told me to fly there I had to try it ;-)

FPV Action: MaxiSwift meets Lex' EGE (Air to Air) - Flycamone HD 720 Test

Here I chased Andis Easyglider with my MaxiSwift. I also had the FlycamOneHD 720 on for the first time. It's basicly an good alternative to the heavier gopro. The FCO has less drag also - which makes it easy to mount on even the smallest planes. The standard lens however is terrible for FPV video! It's narrow 55° field of view makes the vids very shakey! Pics are ok. Fortunately they have an changeable lens with 170° (133° should follow). With the zoom feature, one can compensate the fishey without loosing quality they say.

FunJet Ultra LiFePo4 powered / Maxiswift GoPro Test

My FunJet was rotting in the hangar so I took him out on the Eichberg again. I fly it seldom 'cause it isn't an easy flyer. The starts are troublesome - but here everything went well (excep the landing - which led me into a snowpole because my battery was dead :-)
The Battery used here was an Hacker Topfuel 4S Lifepo4 (new type of batteries, somewhat between 3S and 4S Lipos, but a bit heavier).

Eichberg -> Silbersberg

Here comes the flight startig also from the Eichberg as in the "Wartenstein" Video. The light was weird but gave some great views from above my hometown. Soaring that high above it was a great feeling!

Prigglitz / Auf der Wiese

Mit diesem Flug wird die MaxiSwift FPV Serie fortgesetzt. Diesmal an einem neuen Platz - in Prigglitz. Ebenfalls neu: Audiokommentar (leider nur in englisch) - sagt mir ruhig was ihr davon haltet ;-)

To continue my series of MaxiSwift Flights here comes my first take in Prigglitz on a new location. Also a first: audio comments (english only) - tell me if you liked it or not ;-)

Wartenstein

I did enough fpv training on this day (the Rax-Video was done in the morning) so I was quite confident about this setup - so I could move quite freely around. So I choose this target (the Castle Wartenstein) 1,7km across the valley. First I thought the light is bad - but it turned out quite nice in the end. However - I was quite to get back save to my hill after some hot rounds at the castle.

FPV Milestone - Mountain RAX visited - 3,2km Range!

Plane info
Since I started FPVing I always wanted to do this: start from the valley and ascend to the mountainside station of this cablecar. After being confident enough about the range it wasn't a big deal. There was some tension anyways :-)

Height diff: about 1000m
Range: 3,2km

MaxiSwift FPV Stuppach Morning

TURN ON SOUND - I put some effort into makeing it fit to the vid!
After the first FPV flights (at medium winds) I had this wonderful, calm morning. The old chimney is a striking point in this scenery so it's inviting me for some FPV investigation. The higher field makes this very convenient.

Maxi Swift - erste FPV Flüge / first Flights

This were my first few FPV flights with my MaxiSwift. It's a simple and great setup. Only a bit big in the trunk...
I reused my "old" Blackstork OSD here - not as good as the ezOSD I have on another plane, but way better than not knowing how far out I am, and how many juice is left in the "tank". On this flights I had a max range of 1200m (didn't try more) with 2m Antenna on 35Mhz.
