After fog creeped in for the better part of december I really started to crave for some sunlight. Last friday afternoon I took my DJI Air3 out for the first time after ages, drove up into the mountains - and was so amazed by both: tech tools and mother natures spectacular sense for dramatic scenery painting ;)
Join me as I put the Chimera 4 travel drone to the ultimate test, capturing the stunning beauty of Samos Island (Greece) – from paradise beaches everywhere, through refreshing canyons to be explored and epic dives at the Kerkis, highest elevation on the island.
Canyon was the "Potami Waterfalls" a little west of Karlovasi. Beach from first shots is the Potami beach, Church is called "Agios Nikolaos Chapel Potami". Best fish on the island in our fav restaurant: Cohyli Restaurant (in Ireon).
We found Samos to be the nicest island of the few Greek islands we travelled to.
Not been flying a lot in summer. Either TOO hot or rainy - no inbetween. Also many windy days. And even this one here was forecasted as low winds - but up there on the ridgeline - Gyroflow really had to work hard to stabilize footage :)
Super happy with my setup now - INAV 8, 2x 6S 1300mah packs. Not ultra long flighttimes - but good punch and sporty flying.
And if I want more time in the air, I use 6S 5000mah LiIon.
Met an OG FPV pioneer a few times this early summer, showed him the best spots around my area. Ultimatly we converted both our Chimera 7s from old Airunits to DJI O3. Glad I did, because the Chimera 7 is still a very nice platform.Enjoy the scenery, greets and happy flying on the weekend!

Traveler - Wildflowers
Feels like Summer - Staffan Carlen
Wanted to use this song in a scenery surfing drone compilation now since a long time. It describes the mood of running low on daylight and how it affects us in the winter (not only the low vitamin D) but how much of a relieve the spring will be then...
This all being said (and sung by the fabulous "Pink Laundry") we still had a good ammount of flyable weather this "winter" - and real snow only on the highest peaks.
Foxeer Aura 7, Aura 10 (plus a lot of jello that I can't get rid of)

While on vacation you gotta use the drone on epic spots, right?
Love how well it worked - although I still don't feel comfortable flying over water - especially if it's a lonley lake where you hike a long time to and you see no chance to recover a lost drone out of (man this was "swampy" ;)
Expect some more fixedwing stuff soon - thanks for watching, greets, Mario

Hidden Lines - Ooyy
Whenever I wanted easy FPV fun in the last few months - I uesd my Aura7. It just works! Sometimes I tested antennas, mostly I wanted to enjoy the really good video downlink (O3).
Using an ND filter further increases that CINEMA look feeling already while flying!
To get convenience and more flight time - I don't use the Gopro but just the O3 onboard recording (find setup tips below).
Thanks TJay @dynashot1 for some excellent chase shots (unfortunatelay the GP11 was in 2.7k100fps - so it doesn't look as sharp as it could - and thus the O3 footy actually looks better than Gopro - which really wasn't my intention ;)

These were 4 flight-sessions in early Feb '22 testing out the new copter, more important the best 4k cam for cinematic shots. Would have loved to use the DJI A2 more - but it's very sensitive to jello (which I cannot completly get rid of on this copter - and others have the same issue).
Looks like Gopro is still king in hiding jello.
Stay tuned for a pretty nice Dive at the mountains next up! So happy with how this system works now!
When I take my motorbike to work (which is only 1.5km) I have to make a little detour. If I roam around there, I take a drone with me... you see where this leads (late at work but with a smile on my face! ;)
A sub 250gr drone (GepRC Smart35) is allowed to fly almost everywhere! With this freedom I had a few really good flights on this morning (early summer), and since I used the instaSMO4k I got decent footage out of it:
I use 2.7k 30fps for 2 reasons:
1. my instaSMO4k shuts down mid-flight often when in 4k mode
2. youtube dedicates a good ammount of MBit for 1440p30 videos - and they are sufficient high res imho
2.7k60fps would crop in too much (limitation of camera)
30fps in combination with an ND filter works really nice for cinematic stuff. 4:3 raw resolution is great for stabilization (which in my case works directly thru the insta360 studio premiere plugin).
FAKE SUPERVIEW tips:
Premiere Settings for 4:3 to 16:9 "fake superview":
source video: scale of 50%
Adjustment layer:
Effect "transform 4:3": scale 143%
Effect "Lens distortion removal - gopro - hero 4 session - 1080 superview"
Curvature: -46 (play around with this)
A day off, good weather - roaming thru the "Höllental" (hell's valley) to find new spots. Also had the larger Chimera5 with me for longrange mountain flying - but ended up driving around, listening to "Happier than Ever" and eventually pause on random spots with the small Smart35 which is big in fun!
Here I have the NebulaPro on again, in 4:3 mode and applied a superview filter (I always try to include such details under "Equipment" below btw.

This was a new spot for me - first packs carefully flown there - got better with each pack tho :) Just about the best sense of freedom after a long business day and some hours behind the steeringwheel...
Flew my SpeedyBee 5" drone with Foxeer Box 2 (+ND16 filter) in 1920x1440 converted to 2560x1440 Superview with NIEK script (more here: https://youtu.be/uoD4vURHBGs), upscaled to 4k60 for best youtube codec - hope you like the effort :)

Winter came just in time to get me into the right mood! I wish you guys a wonderful, silent, joyful, warm (but with snow) 🎄Christmas!! 🎄
Thanks for supporting 👍my channel - please come back more often and I love to hear from you - a few words are so much more than just a view-counter going up...
Didnt fly the Mavic as often as I should have this year! Such a great device to capture the moment. Be airborne in minutes, capture steady footage that looks good. All the drone paranoia makes enjoying the hobby a bit difficult sometimes...
Sunsets are around 4pm here now, and foggy conditions in Nov make it hard to fly at all. So for a friday after work session I had to find a new spot, high enough to escape the fog. It's awesom if you can "bring home" this kind of footage with no issues. Once again enjoying the new Vortex and the reliable Crossfire.
