Erstens ist das eine sehr interessante Konstruktion (der Frontrotor sollte doch im Notfall auch beim Ausfall des Heckrotors dem Drehmoment entgegenwirken, oder?).
Und zweitens ist das mal eine ordentlich motorisierte Drohne ;-)



This is some creative construction! This front rotor should help if the rear rotor fails shouldn't it? And I also like the powerdrive of this UAV!

Tricopter Ausgrabungen und Kunst in der Landschaft

Im Sommer wurde ich gebeten, bei den Ausgrabungen in Gasteil (Prigglitz) ein paar Luftaufnahmen zu machen. Nach diesen Flügen blieb ich noch bei "Kunst in der Landschaft" stehen und flog ein paar Runden.



Back in summer they asked me to fly at an archeological site to film it. Not a huge location - but interesting (to fly at). After this I made a stop at the art site nearby - they have interesting objects placed on their field...

Videotipp: Team Black Sheep @ SternTV

Um Trappy gibts in letzter Zeit einen ziemlichen Medienrummel. Einige von uns fürchten natürlich, dass dadurch unser Hobby gefährdet wird, weil es strengere Gesetze mit sich bringen könnte, wenn es zum Hype wird. Ich glaub nicht dass Trappy direkt schuld dran sein wird, vielmehr fürchte ich die vielen Kids die das nachahmen wollen, was sie auf Youtube sehen. Und das geht sicher schief...

Trappy is getting much media attention. Many of us fear that this will affect our hobby (stronger regulations...) but in the end it's not Trappy who will be a problem but the many kids which try to fly as cool and risky following him as their role model...
Tell me how you think about this developement.

GoPro HD Hero 2 - Testpics

Brandaktuell vom Testflug heute - der Oktokopter trug zuerst die "alte" GoProHD1 hoch, und ein paar Minuten danach schon die neue - damit gab es gleiche Lichtbedingungen (und gleicher 720p60 mode):

Just back from the testflight on the field with the Oktokopter I want to show you these 2 sisngle frames from the old (left) and the new HD Hero cam. Both were shot at 720p60 modes! The flights were only seperated by minutes - so same light conditions...
So I'd say "Yes - the new one looks better" ;-)

FPV Treffen am Eichberg (Till, Flo und Geri)

Letzten Sonntag haben Till, Flo und Geri am Eichberg vorbeigeschaut. Das Wetter war fein, bis auf einen kleinen Zwischenfall mit einem Quad (auf den ich nicht näher eingehen möchte) gabs keine Abstürze ;-)
Es war lustig, mal nicht der einzige "Freak" auf dem Feld zu sein...




Last Sunday Till, Flo and Geri visited me at Eichberg field. The weather was fine, except for one small incident with a quad (I will not go into details here) we had no crashes ;-)
It was funny not to be the only "freak" on the field...

GoPro Hero2 - Erste Tests / first review

Hallo brave Leser - laut Counter wird der Blog hier täglich ca. 60-100 mal besucht - danke! Nur weiter so!

Nach den guten Kritiken zu der neuen GoPro Hero2 musste ich zuschlagen. Die GoPro Hero HD war ja schon toll, dass die neue in allem doppelt so gut sein soll, klingt ja schon fast gelogen. Ich konnte bis jetzt noch nicht alles teste, nur soviel:
Sie ist viel Lichtstärker, die Videos/Bilder wirken wesentlich schärfer, und es gibt ein paar neue, sinnvolle Modi - generell ist das Menü besser geworden.
Man kann nun z.B. auch bei 1080p30 den Betrachtungswinkel ändern (vorher hatte 1080p einen kleineren Winkel wie z.B. 720p30/60).

Video hab ich leider noch keines Online, Standbilder von einem ersten Testflug mit dem Tricopter gibts hier (die Bilder wurden nur leicht Farbkorrigiert sonst nicht bearbeitet):



Weiters hab ich mich auf den Slowmotion Modus gefreut: hier hat man zwar nur 848x480 Bildgröße, dafür aber 120 Bilder / sek. Dadurch kann man von 120 auf 24 Bilder die Zeit 5mal so langsam ablaufen lassen (20% Speed). Das ist dann noch immer flüssig, und schaut impossant aus. Auf YouTube gibts hier schon von Jetlag2222 tolle Zeitlupenvideos:

Hello readers - according to my counter my blog is visited daily about 60-100 times - thank you! Keep it up!

After the good reviews of the new GoPro Hero2 I had to get one. The GoPro Hero HD 1 was already pretty good - so I couldn't believe the new one should be twice as good. I didn't test all features yet, but:
It is much better in low light, the videos / pictures look much sharper, and there are a few new useful modes - generally, the menu has improved.
You can now e.g. also change the viewing angle at 1080p30 (1080p had a smaller angle than the 720p30/60 mode).

I have no video online yet but to see the quality I have still images from the first test flight with the Tricopter here (the images were only color corrected and not otherwise modified):

Furthermore, I like the slow motion mode: here you have only 848x480 image size, but 120 frames / sec. So you can slow down from 120 to 24 frames thats 5 times slower (20% speed). That is still smooth playback but has the awesome slowmo look. Jetlag2222 has done a lot of cool vids already - check the links above.

Small MultiWiiQuad in the Park (better Quality, GoPro2 Slowmos!)

Am Samstag hatten wir großartiges Herbstwetter und konnten dies im Neunkirchner Park für FPV nutzen - was will man mehr :-) Ich hab schon ein paar mal beim Spazieren dort gedacht, dass es hier eigentlich toll zu fliegen ginge - und ich hatte recht.
On Saturday we had great weather and were able to fall in Neunkirchner park use for FPV - what more could you want :-) I've been a few times while walking there, thought it was going to fly here really great - and I was right.
