So, jetzt gibts mal wieder was Neues hier!
Tricopter INFO
Finaly something new here! Well - if you take a closer look you find that the first part of the vid might be from last summer - and you're right :-) The flight at this old great hotel "Südbahnhotel" was awesome! You see that the shots in the summer were with the old gopro and without dampeners! The second and third part was with GP2 and dampeners - a nice difference...
As soon as weather permits I'll go out shooting brand new 2012 material - promised :-)

Video Range - Awesome!!!
Sorry for the lack of new posts here - new FPV videos need better weather...
In the meantime I got the above vid from Till. Great achievment for this spanish? guy - he might be trying to set a new world record soon (here only groundtesting - but groundbreaking stuff!).

MPX EasyStar 2 - Maidenflight of new FPV plane
Plane INFO
Thanks to Till I now have the Easystar2 (kinda unplanned but welcome). It's meant to be the simplest FPV soaring platform. Simple setups are the secret - they give you lot of really flying fun instead of fiddelig around at the basestation...
The plane only consumes around 8amp on full throttle - this can be held for around 10-12mins (with still reserve). If you do some throttle management or even soaring the flighttimes must be great (30+mins!)

Techtipp Recording FPV Video USB Grabber vs DNT Action Recorder AR3.6
===> DEUTSCH VERSION HIER
How do you record your downlink video? Why at all?
Because of security. If you crash you have video to look at rather than your faulty human memory ;-)
And you can also fly longrange and have as little weight as possible - so leave out the GoPro and have just SD video.
Till now I used USB Grabber and Laptop but this involves many things and takes time (see Setup-Video).
Now I found this:
DNT Action Recorder AR3.6
It's designed as helmet cam (but can't compete with Gopro!) but it has an interesting option: AV cable allows analog video to be recorded to SD card!
Technical details
So quality is better with USB Grabber, but the AR3.6 is more convenient. If you use it just as a videologger it's good enough. If you have just SD video - you might wanna use the laptop for better quality.
To show the different quality see the video below (watch in 1080p and fullscreen!)
You also see my three different cams (420, 480 and 520 TV lines resolution)
USB Grabber Videosamples:
Digitus USB Grabber
Virtualdub for rec, XVid 8MBit Bitrate codec (high bitrate for minimumm loss on recording)
720x576/25fps
Virtualdub used for posprocessing:
Filter deinterlace (ELA), Filter brightness/Contrast
saved as uncompressed avi -> further processing in Sony Vegas 10 (so you have a big tempfile for the uncompressed file)
DNT Action Recorder AR3.6
720x576/25fps 2,5MBit Bitrate
directly thrown into Sony Vegas 10 off the SD card - much faster option!
BUT: use the motion detection mode of the recorder - else the recording will stop at bad signal during flight!

Tricopter FPV - Lanzenkirchen: High/Low, funny Dog
Tricopter Info
In a pre-Christmas visit to the "Michlhof" Lanzenkirchen (a Christmas market) I got some flight time. It was worth to fly there this afternoon. Nice area, new perspectives caught. The Tricopter is the ideal companion in the back of our car for such short trips. If the weather permits you can always take "a look around" in the air.
Don't miss the nice dog at 2:16
