Runcam Mipi or Caddx Polar?

Mipi is definitly faster (in photography terms - fast shutterspeed, less motion blur) while Polar gives the overall nicer and smoother image! See the full review to decide which cam you like more! I'm not so sure if many users will like the Polar on RTF Freestyle quads tho (looks like new quads now rely on Polar/Mipi since they're the only option with stock :)
While filming this I could definitly feel the advantage of 120fps (DJI cam) for freestyle flying!
All flight scenes in the beginning were after sunset and they are in order of filming. So it was of course getting darker but I flew them back to back with little time delay. It's a difference like day and night ;) Yet they share a lot of common properties: 60fps HQ mode only, no cam options to be set (except with solder on joystick...) 16:9 only (but with wider FOV than DJI stock) Small, cheap, AVAILABLE - better than Nebula (except their Pro version).

was Bardwell wrong? Caddx Polar Review & Latency tested

Is this Lowlight DJI FPV cam from Caddx to slow? Is the latency unflyable? How dark of a night can you actually fly? These questions and a few more will find answers in this video ;) Thanks Caddx for sending me this review sample! Make sure to comment (with the right password) and maybe win one of 2 Caddx Polar cams!

A4 Skyhawk - Maidenflight...

...fun day at the field (except for 2 ;)
also: see how Hulk Hogan lost his Easystar... Really happy with the drone footage quality - what do you think? I finally started using the InstaSMO4k (but in 2.7k30 4:3 mode). Stabilization is super smooth!

Granite Blocks and Castles on the Rocks (Waldviertel vacation Part 2)

On our vacation in the "forrest quarter" of Lower Austria, we found many of those typical rock formations (granite) and it was very nice to hike thru this woods. Once such a majestic castle was on my radar we of course had to go over there too!
First Castle: Rapottenstein Ruins: Arbesbach 3rd spot massive rocks near "Luaga Lucka" / Altmelon

how handy is a 3.5" Drone on vacation?

We took the conveniently small drone with us on this trip to the "Waldviertel" (wood district) which has a nice reservoir (first part), lot's of castles and ruins to explore and very nice wood trails. Make sure to stay tuned (aka SUBSCRIBE) to see the 2nd part (with more stone formations in the woods and impressive castles).
Thanks to my lovely camera girl for the great external shots!

3.5" is my new freestyle favorite! GepRC Smart35 Review

GepRC directly sent me this drone for a review and after first flights it was clear to me that I would fly this much more than the usual few flights for a review. Since I didn't feel pressure I could collect enough flights to give you a serious compilation of different spots and thoroughly test this copter. With those small sub250 drones (but flying like a 5" freestyler) you have access to much more spots than with the usual 6S 5" beast which screams through the whole city ;)

Hollyland Lark150 Wireless Mic system review

Got the chance to test out a wireless mic system! Since I thought about buying the R0de Wireless Go already, I did some research to find out - this is a direct competitor. Find out with me in this video, if the sound quality is sufficient, what are the features, how handy is it? Tested it against some other quite good mics.
Spoiler: I like it and you will HEAR a lot more from this system in my future videos :) Hollyland @Amazon *: https://amzn.to/3ocYEmq Amazon US: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PKSYWM8 Hollyland @Videodata *: http://bit.ly/HollylandLark150

►Some tips: Savetrack recording will only work on connections with 2channels! Obviously! (phone connector = NOT, because 2ch Headphone, 1ch for mic on those cables!) Getting rid of high frequ noise? Lowpass filter to 9000hz sounds about right and reduce the Cam-Audio level while increasing the mic level (Sony ZV-1: Audiolevel 20 and Lark150: 18) ►Dimensions: TX units: 37*37*17.5mm, 21g RX: 67*41*20.5mm, 51g Case: 121*61*43,5mm, 227,5g ►Contents: 1. O.R.T. Digieyes V2 - DJI FPV dualband Patch antennas

Eko from ORT sent me these antennas SPECIFICALLY created for the DJI FPV drone. Since the V2 goggles and the DJI FPV drone use Occusync3 and here two frequency bands (2.4GHz and 5.8GHz) you need to take care which antennas you use (if you want to move away from the stock stubbies). On V1 DJI we could just use any 5.8GHz antennas (from analog times). One reason to move to such directional aftermarket antennas would be the very limited poweroutput in CE mode. Skip to my conclusion to see the results of my 5 testflights - or get some popcorn and enjoy the show ;)

►Test setup: fly over field, fixed alt 50m - turn around on 2km distance (or if video get's too bad) use 2.4GHz 40MHz mode manual (WIFI shouldnt be issue there) Test1: FCC mode + stock ant (baseline) Test2: FCC mode + dualband patches bottom, stock top Test3: CE mode + Stock Test4: CE mode + dualband patches bottom, stock top Test5: CE mode 5.8 + dualband patches bottom, stock top (is there a difference if I go from 2.4 to 5.8GHz?) ►ORT Digieyes V2 Specs: 11dBi dualband 2.4/5.8 H: 110° V: 75° beam width 10° H offset & 7° V offset each panel Working Frequency : 2350-2500 MHz & 5600-6000 MHz Gain (dBi) : 11dBi SWR/S11 : less than 1:1.5 at both working frequency Polarization : Linear Polarization (match with DJI Drone default linear antenna) Connector : RP-SMA with rg316 cables (fits to DJI Goggles V1 & V2) Antenna dimensions : 15.5cm(length), 7.5cm(width) & 1.8cm (thick) Weight : 82 g

Scenic Mountain mission (Schneeberg & Chimera5)

After a little hike (on purpose ;) I flew one pack there. Was quite exciting even if I know now that my gear is pretty trusty. Been there in the past, but never had a proper copter to go up all the way. Spent quite some time searching for a nice way to use both: DJI Srt (bitrate) and Tango2 Telemetry Logs for the overlay. If you guys are curious about this workflow - I could do a tutorial... Wonderful location (Scheeberg, Scheebergdörfl) Thanks to the cam-lady for capturing the ext. scenes!

Also check out these tasty DIVES: https://youtu.be/lxfakLKu8xw (flown by Scott: same region, bit earlier this year when there was more snow - and Gopro6+Reelsteady)

WORLDS FASTEST USB RF Spectrum Analyzer - Aaronia Spectran V6 RSA500x

Aaronia Spectran V6 RSA500x RF analyzer:

  • extremly low POI (probability of intercept, how short of an RF signal spike can the device "see") 97ns (FFT-based) 10ns (I/Q-based)
  • fast sweep speed: over 500GHz/s, it can sweep 6 GHz in less than 10ms
  • RTBW (realtime bandwidth) 120MHz! (can be unlocked to 245MHz)
  • Range: 10 MHz to 6 GHz
  • Dimensions: 210 x 115 x 30 mm, 860gr weight
  • powerbank in same formfactor with 26Ah
  • for mobile use: powerfull laptop! (or reduced fps) larger Powerbank (needs to supply enough WATTS!) or only 120MHz scan rate with one USB 3.2g2

Profiles are loaded on program start (if you change something in these XML files, restart the program! They are sometimes "connected" or nested together. If the parent is missing you wont see a child profile! Profile "Labels" are only visible below a spectrum if in spectrum settings the option "accept profiles" is active! It's better to choose the profiles in "Config" of Spectrum rather than with the Ribbon button... BASIC RF spectrum knowledge:
  • RBW (bandwidth - how accurate do I look at RF?) lower is better (more accurate) but slower sweep
  • VBW (video filter - low (100khz) filters MUCH, FULL settings means highest detail!) higher is better (less smoothing) but you see more noise (set to low if you only wanna see powerfull signals clean)
